how big doe started
Big Doe started with a conversation close to home. Through a local connection, we learned about True Justice, their mission and the work they do to combat human trafficking.
As avid hunters ourselves, the idea of bringing the hunting community together to support that mission just made sense. Addison came up with the idea for a Big Doe Contest, and what started as a simple idea became our first Big Doe Contest in 2025.
Last year was a huge learning experience, and this year we’re taking what we learned and building on it. We’re bringing in sponsors, creating new ways for our community to get involved, and working to grow Big Doe into an annual community tradition.
At the heart of it all is our desire to serve. We believe in the work True Justice is doing, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to use something we love to support a mission that matters. For us, Big Doe isn’t just about a contest — it’s about bringing people together, giving back, and finding another way to serve our community and honor God in the process.

$25 Ticket
Big Doe Contest
1 Big Doe entry per person
Use your ticket to enter your harvested doe in the Big Doe Contest.
Only one deer may be entered per person, regardless of how many tickets are purchased.
AND
Raffle
Unlimited raffle entries
Every ticket purchased is also entered into the raffle drawing.
If You Enter the Big Doe Contest
If your Big Doe ticket places 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, that ticket is removed before the raffle drawing.
Example:
Purchase 4 tickets and use 1 to enter the Big Doe Contest. If that ticket places in the top 3, the remaining 3 tickets are entered into the raffle drawing.
If your Big Doe entry does not place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, your ticket remains eligible for the raffle.

Before you enter, here’s what you need to know
Entry Requirements
- Valid NC Hunting License
- Doe must be harvested the day of the contest
- Field dressing is required — doe cannot be dripping wet
- Doe must be harvested in Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Jones, Lenoir, Onslow, Pamlico, or Pitt County
Weigh-In
- Weigh-in begins at 11:00 AM
- Weigh-in ends at 7:30 PM
- Tie-breaker is the time of weigh-in
Raffle Prizes
Your $25 raffle ticket puts you in the running for this year’s prizes.
2026 prizes are being finalized now. Check back as prizes are announced.
Supporting True Justice
Big Doe exists because we believe in the mission of True Justice Inc. and the work they are doing to combat human trafficking and support those impacted by it.
What started as a simple idea to bring our local hunting community together has grown into an opportunity for us to use something we love to support a cause we believe in.
All proceeds from the Big Doe Contest go to True Justice. Sponsorships help us cover the cost of raffle prizes and other event expenses, allowing us to give the remaining proceeds directly to True Justice. TIU keeps none of the proceeds from the event.
